Your college will have some type of Online Portal System. These are used, campus-wise, to access: courses, financial aid information, student accounts, tuition bills and payment records, account holds, course calendars, research, library databases, career services, student organizations information, athletic info and schedules, residential life essentials, public safety notices, and much more. Not to mention, courses you take online.
Some popular college portals are: Blackboard, Banner, Web CT, Plato, First Class, Desire2Learn, and CyberExtension are some of the brand name software systems used on campuses today.
As early as you can, get into the online system your college is using [you can usually sign-in as a guest if you don’t know your ID and password information]. Get familiar with using this system. It will save you time later, when others are fumbling around trying to figure out how to register for classes.
